Regional Director

Status: Exempt
Location: Manassas Facility
Hours: Monday –Friday 8:00 - 5:00 - Additional Hours and Days will be required
Direct Reports: Asst. Director of Maintenance, Marketing Assistant, Other collaborative reports

Job Summary:
The Regional Director will provide operational management for the Manassas facility including but not limited to: leadership of business unit sales and marketing resulting in market share growth (charter and management aircraft) and achievement of contribution margin objectives as defined by corporate objectives, client relations, flight operations, maintenance, airport issues, corporate communications, human resources and regional fiscal responsibility. These duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Essential Job Functions:
  • Daily Operations: Responsible for the daily operations of the Manassas flight department to insure a safe, regulatory compliant, efficient and cost effective operation in a highly professional and customer oriented environment.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Provide fiscal and administrative oversight for maintenance of regionally bases aircraft, the hangar facility and personnel. Effective cost control will be a key measurement with safety and compliance as top priority.
  • Operational Oversight: Provide fiscal and administrative oversight of regionally based flight crews in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Pilot.
  • Fiscal Oversight: Provide leadership and oversight of key financial metrics, including but not limited to aircraft, maintenance and facility costs, budget performance and recommended adjustments to fiscal goals relative to facility, aircraft and contract performance.
  • Budget: Will lead the development, submittal and approval process for the regional budget in collaboration with Business Development, technical Services and the Controller.
  • Deliver and operational, fiscal and sales business plan for every fiscal year.
  • Human Resources: Responsible for Human Relations management in collaboration with the corporate HR Director.
  • Policy and Procedure Oversight: Implement and train site specific policies and procedures for the Manassas operations, which are consistent with FlightWorks overall philosophy. In addition, assure all FlightWorks policies and the various departments adhere to procedures and ISO standards.
  • Safety and Security: Responsible for the general safety and security for the Manassas operation to include open and consistent communications with the Manassas airport manager’s office and Corporate. Attain safety metrics as defined by corporate objectives.
  • FlightWorks/Regional Communications: Serve as a conduit for communications between Corporate, the customers and employees based at Manassas. All Manassas communications will come through the Base Manager.
  • Scheduling: Have familiarity with and provide any input or corrections if necessary for all Manassas flight and crew scheduling in collaboration with Corporate to insure all relevant information is updated and documented in the FOS system.
  • Contracts, Lease and Insurance Compliance: Must be familiar with all customer agreements, airplane lease and insurance requirements to insure current and updated information for consistent operations.
  • Management Meetings: Participate in the weekly FlightWorks Management meetings via conference call.
  • Procurement: Responsible for the Manassas base procurement activities, budget monitoring and appropriate approvals.
  • Inventory Control: Base Manager will be responsible for all asset control and inventory. Reports will be generated as needed.
  • Sales and Marketing: Be and active sales agent for charter, management and other FlightWorks product offerings. Collaborate with the FlightWorks sales and marketing team with information, strategies and visits to current and potential client corporate offices. Maintain subject matter expertise of the regional market.
  • Airport Authorities: Maintain a proper and continuous relationship with the local airport authority as the representative for FlightWorks at the Manassas base. Become familiar the local code and federal regulations including but not limited to the airport security and spill prevention plan.
  • Facilities: Will facilitate upkeep and professional appearance of assigned facilities to the highest standards.
  • Capital Expenditures: Must monitor and approve any capital expenditures for the Manassas base in accordance with the limits established by Corporate.
  • Must approve all expense reports and payables before sending to Corporate.

Qualifications:
  • Five-year minimum experience in Aircraft Charter, Management, Sales and Operations.
  • B.S. College degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Must maintain recurrent education in safety and security related issues.
  • Participation in industry professional association activities, both on a national and local level.
  • Computer skills require. Specifically Microsoft Outlook Office Suite.

Reports:
  • Prepare weekly summaries to Corporate per the standard template.
  • Develop a survey in collaboration with the Director of Customer Service that will evaluate processes and measurements to determine customer satisfaction with the service provided by FlightWorks.
  • Provide Financial Reports to Corporate on or before the 15th of the month following the month completed; to include an actual versus budget variance analysis.
  • Provide year-end reports and annual forecasting.

Key Evaluation Criteria:
  • Meet goals and objectives as defined (sales, cost control and contribution margin).
  • Safety and incident record – operational history of region.
  • Regionally based employee’s morale and retention rate.
  • Maintenance reliability rate and dispatch ability percentage.
  • Additional criteria to be defined in conjunction with the President and management team.
